Loughlinstown Training Centre (LTC) has officially launched its new Bus and Coach Driving Traineeship, which is due to start on 1st July 2019.

This new full time programme, which will be FREE to the learners, was developed in partnership with leading industry stakeholders and aims to secure jobs in the passenger transport industries for its 16 successful participants.

Loughlinstown Training Centre has been working closely with the transport training company Swilly Group and local employers to develop programmes in Transport and Logistics that will deliver jobs for its learners in the greater Dublin area.

Cathy English, DDLETB said “We have been liaising with Passenger Industry employers in Dublin for some time now to understand their specific employment needs.  We are acutely aware of the shortage of qualified Bus Drivers that is being felt by the industry at present.  We have put together a programme that addresses these skills shortage”.

This 26 week programme includes the mandatory theoretical and practical tests required to qualify as a professional Bus Driver.  The programme includes exciting new modules in both Customer Service and Tourism Visitor Care.   Each learner receives 25 hours of Driving Lessons before sitting their driving test.  Those who successfully obtain their Bus Driving Licence will proceed to get further training on Eco and Defensive Driving.

Cathy added “This programme represents a fantastic opportunity for learners to become skilled in an area where there is significant employment opportunities.  The learners will also receive job seeking support from a qualified jobs coach as well as training in their Driver CPC, Practical Driving, First Aid and Customer Service.  With the training and qualifications we have on offer, we are very confident that there will be a high job placement from this programme”.
